James White's "White Lightning" Flowing Again

"WHITE LIGHTNING" FLOWING AGAIN

Bob to Charles:

My good friend, Steve Garrett of the BaptistGadfly at http://baptistgadfly.blogspot.com/ has called my attention to fact that James White has his "White Lightning" Distillery up and brewing the Hybrid Calvinism intoxicant once again.

The last time I visited James' Arizona White Lightning Distillery, it seemed he was chasing Catholics and Mormons, but it is obvious that his addiction to Hybrid Calvinism has overcome him again. Here's what he says:

In other words, the Holy Spirit does not merely whisper in the hardened sinner’s ear and hopes that the rebel sinner will “cooperate”; rather, while the sinner is in a state of hardness and rebellion, the Holy Spirit penetrates in the will of man and performs the miracle of spiritual life (regeneration). That is grace alone. Faith does not precede regeneration, regeneration precedes faith.

Awhile back, when James was squirming around trying to evade what we had written about his brew, I thought he might be showing some signs that he was becoming susceptible to changing his ways in regard to Hybrid Calvinism; but no, that must have simply been mere wishful thinking on my part. Now the Great Exegeeter is once again brewing his "spirits" according to the "Reformed" recipe of baby regenerationists such as Shedd, Berkhof, Frame, and Sproul as a means of intoxicating his readers with what the "Reformed" are wont to call "monergism."

The result is, James' "monergism" would have the reader drunken on the Hybrid Calvinism hallucination that the unbelieving sinner gets "born again before faith" -- a regenerated UNBELIEVER!

We prefer Dr. B. H. Carroll's sober "monergism" to the "White Lightning" of James White's Distillery --

DR. CARROLL'S IMPECCABLE SYLLOGISM:

(1) Every one born of God has the right be called a child of God.

(2) But no one has the right until he believes in Jesus.

(3) Therefore the new birth is NOT COMPLETED WITHOUT FAITH."

As much as I hate to interrupt Bob Ross' continued one-string-banjo strumming, it would be good to point out that the blog at www.aomin.org has multiple contributors. This is announced at the top of the page. There is even a nice caricature of those who regularly contribute, along with their names. Then, at the end of each article, the author is noted. For example, on the article replying to an e-mail from a person who had converted to Rome, we read the following at the bottom:

11:22:57 - James R. White - Category: Mail Bag - Link to this article - edit -

This indicates that I wrote this article. Yes, I know, this is basic stuff, right? But it seems Bob Ross and his cyber-alter-ego Charles need a basic review of how to read blog entries, for the one cited here, and attributed to me, has the following tagline:

16:34:00 - Alan Kurschner - Category: Reformed Apologetics - Link to this article - edit -

It is such a shame that Ross has become such a clone of Ruckman and Riplinger that he cannot even check his facts in his rush to attack others. Just as Riplinger enjoys playground-level games with people's names, so Ross can't wait to whip out his "White Lightning." A lesson to us all: don't become the mirror image of those you oppose. The result is always very, very sad.

"James," Hello!

I'm not sure if you're the real James White or not.

James has posted here before. On March 4, 2006 he responded to my post on James White and Rossphobia. At that time his profile was found at
http://www.blogger.com/profile/

Your profile link is different:

04468852389270264999

Either James White has two profiles or you are not James White.

Nice try.

Charles

WHITE LIGHTNING

Brewmaster James White, Chief of the "Team" of the White Lightning Distillers who put out that good ole Hybrid Dew, says:

If this comment is implying that James does not accept responsbility for Kurschner's elixir which spewed forth from James' Distillery, then we will be happy to hear him say so. If that be the case, we look forward to seeing a rebuttal of Kurschner's error on the Great Exegeeter's website.

I don't understand, Charles. If James did leave the comment, is he saying that he does not believe what was posted and written by Kurschner? That regeneration precedes faith?

Besides, he has argued this elsewhere himself, so why does he seem to back down now?

Dear Charles:

I have posted a rebuttal to the argumentation of White and other Hyper Calvinists on their false assumptions relative to I John 5:1. Your readers might like to visit my site and take a look.

God bless

Dear Charles:

One other point on whether the statement about regeneration preceding faith was made by White or by a guest writer - Kurschner.

In my review of I John 5:1, the regeneration before faith view was written by White in his commentary on that verse.

JAMES' STYLE

James' style is characterized by finding ways and means to try to divert attention from an issue on which he is in error. He slivers around to find some way by which he can wiggle away from facing the music. When he can't find anything to nitpick, he clams up and dismisses anyone he can't "exegeet" to his satisfaction.
