Did Tom Ascol Diss James White?

In writing about a North Carolina pastor, Dr. Tom Ascol recently said, “Similarly, if I present myself as "Dr." So-in-so when in fact I have not done the formal academic study that is associated with that title, you are entitled to call me a deceiver.”

http://www.founders.org/blog/2006/12/so-much-for-being-truth-broker.html

I wonder what Dr. Ascol thinks of “Dr.” James White’s credentials? Ascol is no dummy, I suspect that he knows about White’s questionable “degree.” Maybe this is his way of dissing White without actually mentioning him by name.

DEBATE ASCOL & WHITE?

If you are familiar with the materials presented by the Calvinist Flyswatter on the matter of "regeneration," you might have a clue. They would be hard-pressed to defend the Pedobaptist Reformed "born again before faith" teaching against anyone who believes the Baptist Confessions and knows anything about what our Baptist forefathers have taught.

There is not a single Baptist Confession which teaches one is "born again before faith," and it has been demonstrated that men such Dagg, Carroll, Spurgeon, Strong, Gill, Boyce, Pendleton, and others did not hold the Reformed "baby regenerationist" heresy that the elect are born again before the Holy Spirit efficiently and effectually produced faith by the instrumental means of the Word of God.

he said that enough has been written about it, and if i wanted to know more to ask james white myself. he gave me white's email address. i wrote him. i havent heard anything yet.

tom ascol did say that he didnt think that the school was an accredited school, but that white had done the work to have such a degree.

again, i asked ascol to debate bob ross...with james white...and ascol didnt respond to that.

volfan007,

I find it so funny that in the post you cry for debate and in the post on Nettle's you talk about his obsession with Tulip/Calvinism.

I can't stop laughing ---- Charles, Bob, You, and others are so obsessed with your anti Tulip/Calvinism that you don't see you are what you speak of others it is just to funny!!!!

I've noticed that the hybrid/hyper/extreme/neo Calvinists are very proactive when it comes to censorship.

Read How The Calvinist Flyswatter Came To Be for more information.

Tom Ascol and The Flounders allow the most extreme, hateful comments on their blog about leaders of the SBC but if you ask pointed questions about the hybrid/hyper/extreme/neo Calvinist "ministries," you frequently get the DELETE key on your post. It seems that Ascol himself has no problem pointing out what he perceives to be problems in the ministries of others but in my opinion he is quick to censor anyone who would question someone with Flounders affiliations.

Other Flounders supporters have tried to get me banned on other sites also. In my opinion they have the same MO as John Calvin himself - shut down by hook or crook all forms of dissenting opinion.

It's regrettable that they follow Calvin on censorship but not in another area.

It is rather amazing, Charles, how Providence brought about the Calvinist Flyswatter on account of Hybrid Calvinist censorship and unevenhandedness.

Hybrids can primarily "thank" Tom Ascol for all the information you have presented on the Flyswatter. May we say that he was foreordained and predestinated to that end?

Not only in your case, but mine as well, Tom Ascol can be "thanked" for the Flyswatter's refutations of Hybrid Calvinism and Hybrid Calvinists.

You will recall that I had never posted even a single comment on any blog, yet Ascol was predestinated to post on his blog that Bob Ross is a "goofball." Thru that post on Ascol's blog, I soon became acquainted with the Flyswatter, and you have ever since graciously allowed the "goofball" to utilize your blog to help expose Hybridism over the past few months. Hybrid heresies have been "chased" from every escape hatch and rathole.

As a result of your generosity and openness, who knows how many Baptists have become knowledgeable that the "Reformed" Hybrid Calvinism of the Flounders, Nettles, Gene Bridges, Scott Morgan, James White, Southern Seminary and others is heterodox when measured by Calvin, the Baptist Confessions, Spurgeon, Gill, Carroll, Boyce, Dagg, and other Baptists of yesteryear?

As long as you maintain the Flyswatter, Southern Baptists can rest assured that when it comes to Hybrid Calvinism heterodoxy, on the Internet at least, one shall "chase a thousand" (Deut. 32:30).

Maybe its your conduct and manner and maybe lack of intellegence on the matters why would you even want to comment on things you don't understand nor believe?

anon,

thanks for calling me a rude, stupid idiot. thats so christian of you. real classy, too.

i think i do understand calvinism very well...and i understand extreme calvinism all too well.

and, i was going to founders to try to discuss issues of concern to christian people. but, i guess tom ascol doesnt like to deal with people who show just how off the deep end he and the others are.

Timotheos, Hello!

You wrote,

The few folks who have visited here never hang around for long.

The stats show that a great number of folks make return visits.

Even the smallest exposure to the often juvenile, self congratulatory and uncharitable Flyswatter verbiage is sufficient to make most thoughtful bloggers move on (which says something about me now, doesn't it?)

Again, your remarks do not square with the facts. The typical hybrid/hyper/extreme/neo person who posts here finds that a healthy dose of sane historical analysis, biblical authority, and sound logic leaves them in a state of distress. So they move on to post on sites where they will not get their views challenged. They still visit and read, they are afraid to say anything for fear of being challenged.

Speaking of "self congratulatory verbiage" have you visited The Founders blog lately? It’s a virtual love fest!

It's a shame you can't get any traction with your theological shibboleths, but most people just don't want to play your game.

Most "game" players like to win now and again. When your arguments are so lacking in truth and logic the "game" is not fun, is it?

Maybe you should rethink your approach...you know, knock off the backbiting and all that stuff

I am not aware of any backbiting. Is questioning the credentials of James White's degree backbiting? Is demonstrating that Southern Seminary is out of line with what the Southern Baptist Convention believes backbiting?

No, the only problem with this site is that it acts like a light on cockroaches. When you turn on the light they run for cover. Same with the neo/hyper/hybrid/extreme Calvinists who post here.

THOUGHTFUL BLOGGERS?

I am at a loss in regard to who these "thoughtful bloggers" are who have "moved on"? I must have somehow missed them!

There have been bloggers of perhaps various descriptions, but those who have expressed themselves negatively about what the Flyswatter has presented did not impress me as being "thoughtful" persons. Were you impressed that they were "thoughtful," Charles?

Rather, to me they indicated that they had given little to no thought to what they said -- like pounding out palabber on their keyboards before giving their brains the opportunity to gear-up.

It's true, the pedos, Flounders, and other Hybrids don't take a lik'n to the Flyswatter, for they don't like to get swatted. I don't know a fly that enjoys getting swatted, do you!

truth hurts and considering that is what this blog is so called representing....not! I think unless you are a calvinist you can relate -kinda like the point you make with being a pastor if you aren't one you can carry on a conversation about much less anything else. Founders wants to speak about the topic from a point of view you have no clue about so they dismiss you... wise!
