How The Calvinist Flyswatter Came To Be

Just in case James White or one of his wannabes throws me overboard during the upcoming Sovereign Grace cruise, I want to set the record straight on how The Calvinist Flyswatter came into existence.

Back when The Founders Ministry blog (yes, they really believe what they are doing is a ministry) was recruiting "Dr." James White to be their debater-in-chief against Dr. Ergun Caner, I posted some comments on the blog about James' running from Bob Ross like a scalded dog. I may also have mentioned that James' "Dr." degree was secured via correspondence from an unaccredited school. After all, the man is desperate for some form of validation.

The Flounders didn't take too kindly to my pointing out the Debater-in-Chief's skill set. I was told if I wanted to contribute and be taken seriously I should pony up and provide my "vitals," in other words: name, email, SSN, blood type, DNA sample, hair color, etc. When I pointed out to Tom Ascol (head of the Flounders) that several other contributors to The Flounders blog provided only a first name (if that), he ... well, let's just say he got egg on his face.

It wasn't long before I noticed my posts would appear...and then disappear! For some reason The Flounders didn't want people to know that James was running from Bob Ross. Along the way I may also have posted some things about Mark Dever and his "no baptism for children" policy. Those posts also vanished into thin air. Those Flounders know how to take care of their own. A few of my posts survived but not many.

I tried posting Bob's article, White Smoke Again. It disappeared. I then went to some other "pro-Flounders, Born Again Before Faith" blogs and tried posting the same article. Steve Camp immediately deleted it and banned me, even though it was directly on point with his article. Nice guy. Several others deleted it but a few let it slide.

Somewhere along the way, one or more of the "Born Again Before Faith" Calvinists said, "Get your own blog, Charles!"

So I did.

One of my first articles was a reprint of Bob's White Smoke Again in which I added a few comments and titled it, James White and Rossphobia. Bob found this blog a short time later and as they say, the rest is history.

From its humble beginnings a few short weeks ago, The Calvinist Flyswatter now has readers from all over the world! Readers include pastors and church staff, students and professors from the SBC seminaries, and yes, even Tom Ascol's daughter! (Since she enjoys fiction, I recommend she check out Bob's humorous side.)

The increase in readership has been phenomenal. Thank you! It's almost enough to make me don a Scottish kilt and dance with James. Not!

Enjoy your visit to The Calvinist Flyswatter. Get informed. Read Why Are Calvinist Churches Usually So Small for a start.

Tell your friends about The Calvinist Flyswatter. At the end of each article you will find a small envelope icon. Click on it and you can email that article to a pastor or friend.

Together, we can stop the Reformed Calvinists from wreaking havoc in the Southern Baptist Convention.

How about we do some serious interaction with the Biblical text and see what it really says rather than go back and forth with endless banter? :)

I do hope you are going on the cruise Charles, you would bring a interest few of one who doesn't see God as Sovereign.

You harp on Dr. Whites degree which I don't believe is at all truth. He taught a class or two not to long ago at Golden Gate Seminary (SBC) and you can't teach and students can't recieve credit with out the one teaching having the proper credentials.

I think if you are going to speak as an expert and correct a whole group of people, as you do, you should have to "pony up".
They disappear as some of mine have since I have been posting on your site. I believe they gave you good advice. Now you and Bob can just talk, take your cheap shots, and keep or delete as you wish.

I must say as a Calvinist it comes as a complement that you think we are causing havoc in the SBC - havoc wouldn't be my word for what may or may not be happening because of the Calvinist/havoc would be what I consider this convention all by its own doing - it means the Lord is using us for good in a denomination that has great problems. All that happens, happens for a purpose - of course you do not believe that, I am sure.

looking forward to your comments and others

BOB:

I wonder what person David has in mind?

Surely, not David. David has already revealed that he is not adequate for "serious interaction." He submitted the following on this blogsite on March 20, 2006:

>>
I've not read Shedd and Berkhoff. If they do in fact indicate that babies are somehow born again because they get "baptized" . . .
>>

David says he has (1) read neither two of the foremost Pedo theologians, Shedd and Berkhof, who teach "regeneration precedes faith" and (2) David does not seem to comprehend what pedos believe about pedo-regeneration of babies in relaaation to infant baptism.

Or, if he does inderstand pedo-regeneration, then he has misrepresented their view by what he says about "babies are somehow born again because they get baptized."

Neither Shedd nor Berkhof taught the latter idea, and neither do the Presbyterians, and no one on this blogsite has said that they taught such.

What they teach is that children born to pedo parents are regenerated in early infancy, before, or at, or after baptism.

If we attempted to have any "serious interaction" with David, we most likely would have to educate him in addition to refuting him. Why doesn't David find a person who is more suitable for "serious interaction," and perhaps that can come to pass. -- Bob Ross

ALL IN YOUR FAVOR, CHARLES

It has occurred to me, Charles, that you have two things going for The Calvinist Flyswatter:

(1) KNOWLEDGE, including facts and indisputable information.

(2) IGNORANCE, especially and specifically the posts of those who have nothing to say but are most willing to say it anyway. Such comments simply serve to embellish the truthfulness of what you are putting on TCF.

How can you possibly fail in your purposes?

Charles and Bob,

I love this blog! It has become MUST reading with many of us at the IMB.

Bob, you are a Baptist Jonathan Swift!

Charles, all I can say is thank God the Reformers (or Deformers) ran you off their blogs.

Be careful you guys. The SBC Calvinists play for keeps. Watch your back. Some of them are Christlike but as a group, they are the most mean spirited people I have ever known. The mentality is almost like a pack of wild dogs.

BOB:

Thanks for your concern, John, but I have had "bears" of stronger breaths come after me.

The CAMPBELLITES have tried for years to "do me in," and they have fallen on their faces. A few of them lost their pulpits as a result of the debates, their elders were so displeased!

Then there were the "King James Onlys," and you talk about some who "flew over the cuckoo nest"!

You ought to have seem that coven of bats I faced at Ruckman's Church and School in the early 90s! There were two or three hundred of them in the crowd, and they got so mad they pulled my cameraman's plug to prevent us from recording some of the "Bible Forum" to which they had invited me to be their guinea pig!

It was there that Ruckman made his infamous remark, "You have a PROBLEM if you say the Bible is 'inspired'."

Ever since putting his foot into his mouth, Ruckman has lost several teeth trying to get his foot out!

The kingdom Ruckman had at that time disintegrated as his chief anti-Calvinist "theologian," Larry Vance, has left him and adopted "paccifism," and Bob Neidlinger, his book store and print shop manager, has also left him. Vance and Neidlinger were Ruckman's "right hand men," and nowadays Ruckman is all but deflated.

The TRUTH has "nothing to fear but fear itself," and I don't think I am capable of fearing the BABF'ers after I have faced-off with Campbellites for 45 years and the "King James Onlys" for so many years.

Your love is distorted if you find this blog lovable. Who are the many at the IMB?

Deformers those from history past made much of what you are able to do today possible but then who knows exactly who you are and what you do.

John, you are aware that some of those deformers are also involve in various position with the IMB, don't you?

Also John, are you aware that some of us, deformers, make it possible for you to be on the field with our stewardship to the IMB.

"Those Calvinists play for keeps"?
What are you trying to say here. We hold guns to peoples heads and make them follow.... I think those in leadership in the SBC are the gun holders and do a fine job of this themselves including in your own organization. The same "good old boys club" that seems to control everything within the convention and I could name names but I think we know who they are. Either your in or you are out depending on if you follow them at their demand or not. One of the most corrupt organization I have watched from many positions is the conventions "little mob".

"Some are Christlike but as a group, they are most mean spirited people I have ever known. The mentality of almost like a pack of wild dogs." - really, well you seem to be a member of another pack yourself.

Amazing the stones that are case.

Amazing you just don't know who you are speaking to and the influence that they may or may not hold thats watching you.

BOB: Did it ever cross your own mind, Anon, that there is also an Eye watching you? Proverbs 5:21, 22.

You might want to resist the temptation to be so presumptuous. -- Bob Ross
