Simon Sez: Calvinist blogs make him sick

Simon, from the Thinking Deeply blog, is under fire. He wrote a great article on Wrongly Dividing The Body of Christ that was an indictment of the methods used by The Founders, The Calvinist Gadfly, and other rabid Calvinist blogs. This came on the heels of another article, Lord of The Gadflys, an expose of Alan Kurschner's bizarre Calvinist blog.

Tom Ascol at Founders Ministries (yes, they really believe it's a real ministry), responded with a whiny article. Didn't you get the memo: The Founders can do no wrong.

Simon followed up with Apology, Observations, & Email. Simon said, "I publically apologize for implying that Tom or Founders personally attacks Arminians. I think that a lot of the people who visit that site personally attack Arminians, as evident from the thread you linked to. But Tom didn’t." No, but he's an enabler, and a big one. In my opinion, Simon did not need to apologize but you be the judge.

For the record, Simon once chastised me in a comment to my own article on Alan Kurschner. Simon was probably right, but I'm pretty hardheaded.

You said:

"Didn't you get the memo: The Founders can do no wrong."

Come now, Charles, how can you say something like that, especially when Dr. Tom Ascol at the end of that very post said this:

"No one is above criticism. Certainly not me or any of those who comment on this blog. Sometimes we may need to be corrected for what we say or how we say it."

I stand in full agreement with Brother Tom. I have found myself repenting and apologizing frequently for the way I've said things, and when I have been wrong.

You said that the artcile Founder's has posted is a "whiny article." I ask you Charles: Are you truly wanting to discover the truth here or are you content to mock?

If your intent was not to mock/insult/deride the Founder's, then I withdraw my statement, but I find it difficult to see how your statement could be construed any differently.

A few things to think about perhaps.

David Hewitt

We must take people on their word and Charles is full of words the problem is they have no meaning or truth to back them.

Charles you are the whiner, you just state insults and rely on Bob for some form of educated backing.

I truly don't know what your problem is but you are full of self and I am beginning to wonder where God is in all of this. You are a man of little substance and if people look to you for wisdom and leadership, well bless them, they look in the wrong direction.

You are a sad man Charles!

WISHFUL THINKING

BOB: Charles, I think Anon may be an example of what is going on out there amongst the "born again before faith" sect (or is it fast becoming a cult) -- A WHOLE LOT OF WISHFUL THINKING!

A friend informed me of a site where a pedo who evidently has the delusion that he was "regenerated in infancy" called me a "Calvinist hater" and other such denigrating remarks. That, too, is WISHFUL THINKING.

The foremost effort by those who realize they "have had it" is to attempt to discredit the "enemy." Nothing is beyond them if they think they can discredit you.

We are viewed as "ENEMIES," and they can bet their boots that we INDEED ARE ENEMIES OF PEDO-REGENERATION "BORN AGAIN BEFORE FAITH" HERESY.

You have done and are doing a GREAT WORK, Charles, and many ELECT souls may be won to the Lord in the days to come due to your efforts to get Baptists back to majoring on PREACHING THE GOSPEL instead of seeking proselyites to "Reformed" pedo-regenerationism under the guise of its being "Calvinism."

It is not "Calvinism" -- it is pedo heresy, contrary to every Calvinist Confession of Faith in history.

Keep it up, you "Sad" fellow! These critics will drop like flies in due course of time. I know, I went thru all of this type of thing with Campbellites. In due time, they bite the dirt! -- Bob L. Ross

SICK BLOGS

Tom Ascol, on his blog, said, "No one is above criticism. Certainly not me or any of those who comment on this blog. Sometimes we may need to be corrected for what we say or how we say it. The discovery of error is never a a license to quit loving."

Tom seems awfully conciliatory, doesn't he? But when has he or any of the Founders ever rebuked anyone but those who disagree with the Founders? Just look at Scott Morgan on this blog, for example. He is "close" to Tom, he says, and Scott has never been wrong on anything, has he? I have put up all these quotes from Dagg, Carroll, Boyce, Spurgeon and others, and yet Scott is still "right" despite the fact he does not accept what these great Baptists taught.

Tom even published a comment by "Walton" in which I was called a "goofball." Has Tom ever mentioned that and offered any apologies either to me or on his website? Of course not.

That post was the very thing, Charles, that put me in touch with you, and do you suppose Tom is now proud of himself for putting that on the Founders blog? -- Bob L. Ross

Cult - So you beleive we who are Calvinist are not Christian but a cult?

"Doing a great Work"? Bob this isn't work it is pontificating of two old men who find the SBC more important than Biblical Truth.

"Enemies"? Of who? Those who are Calvinist? I don't think so since you first don't have an audience large enough that finds your pontificating that important and second the only enemies I see is that the two of you come across as the enemies of God.

"Drop like flies" the only thing that may drop is your small audience. You just add great fuel to what is needed in the World especially in what claims to be the Church of Today - Truth/Biblical Truth!

Pontificate all you like it doesn't make it true it just shows many come like sheep in wolves clothing claim what they do not contain and just talking (to themselves) with nothing to say!
